Birds

We feed the wild birds throughout the year and they repay us by helping to reduce garden pests.

Blackbird (Turdus merula).

Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos).

This Greenfinch (Carduelis chloris) is eating seeds of Geranium pyranaicum - the wildlife benefits from not being too quick to deadhead.

Our Barn Owl (Tyto alba) box sits in an oak tree just outside the bog garden. Using our trap camera we captured this image of a youngster waiting for the adult. This youngster was blown out of the box a few days earlier so we were reassured to see it fit and well.

This video, from the same trap camera, shows a good view of the adult early one morning a few days later.
